New Jersey Bus Accident Injury Attorney
Experienced, Compassionate Personal Injury Attorney
Approximately 300 fatal bus crashes take place each year in the United States, and roughly 20,000 injuries are caused by bus-related accidents according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. While bus accidents occur less frequently than car accidents, they can be much more catastrophic when they do. Due to their large size and heavy weight, buses can be extremely damaging in a crash both to the passengers within and any other vehicles involved. If you or someone you love was involved in a bus accident, make sure you take immediate action to fight for justice and compensation.

Bus Accidents in New Jersey
There are several different reasons bus accidents occur, including bus driver error, the mistakes of another driver on the road, road hazards, or vehicle malfunctions. In any case, the resulting damage and subsequent injuries can be severe.
New Jersey School Bus Incident
In one recent crash, a school bus carrying 38 fifth-graders and 6 chaperones collided with a dump truck on Route 80, leaving 2 dead and dozens injured. The accident took place on the morning of May 17, 2018, as the students drove from East Brook Middle School in Paramus to Waterloo Village for a field trip. The damage from this crash was severe and left the vehicle overturned on the side of the road with the front end torn completely off.
While the cause of this crash is still not confirmed, footage from the State Department of Transportation shows the driver attempting to make an illegal U-turn after missing the intended exit, according to NJ Advanced Media for nj.com.
NJ Transit Bus Collision
On Friday, May 18, 2018, another bus accident involving two NJ Transit buses injured 32 people when one bus rear-ended the other. While none of the injuries were life-threatening, several passengers were sent to the hospital for immediate medical attention, according to a report by NBC New York.
What To Do After a Bus Accident
If you were involved in a bus accident, it’s important that you act fast to fight for the justice and compensation you deserve. When the fault lies with a private party, like the driver of a privately owned bus, your case may be handled much like any other car accident. However, if the bus you were on was owned or operated by a public entity, like a school board or New Jersey Transit, you must file your tort claim within 90 days. According to the New Jersey Tort Claim Act, injured parties have 90 days from the date of the accident to file a valid claim.
